Quiz Bowl is an academic team competition that Sacred Heart High School has participated in for many years.  When ULL discontinued its open field tournament competition about seven years ago, Mrs. Julia Fontenot, team coach, had the school join the Louisiana Association for Academic Competition (LAAC) for regional play in the spring of each school year.  The Diocese of Lafayette also hosts annually both Varsity and Junior Varsity tournaments for all ten Catholic High Schools in the Diocese.

Quiz Bowl team members are selected on the basis of their grade point averages and on their breath of reading, general knowledge, math skills, and commitment to study.  Most members are chosen in their sophomore year and remain on the team until graduation.  All team members dedicate extra hours to study to be competition ready.
